Wooden Table

HOW I BUILT IT:

I cut out a big circle shape from 3/4 plywood about 8ft across.

I did this twice and glued / screwed those circles together

I then cut something like 400 3.5inch by 3.5inch by 3/4 blocks. I glued each one of these to the table one by one. Clamping and weighting them one by one.

Then I Sanded and Sanded and Sanded. Router the edges and cutting out the middle for the beer bucket.

The legs are just redwood 4x4s with deck screws holding them together

I then sealed it about 14 times with a really expensive sealer

It looked beautiful for about a week.

WHAT WENT WRONG:

It rained, It was humid.

The moister in the air got up under the table through the bottom.

The wood pieces grain were facing all sorts of directions

The bottom of the pieces expanded and pushed the pieces out next to them which made gaps in the sealant on the top. Then the rain got in the top.

I was ashamed of it at the time and did not take any pictures of it. I wish I had.
