We do Amazing Things for:

Buy Blades and bits $100

Every project we do the volunteers usually bring their own tools. Things get broken, snapped and just used up. I always want to treat the volunteers like gold, so I do my best to make sure bits, blades and sometimes even tools get replaced as needed. It usually costs around $100 per charity project.

Build a game for Camp Anuenue $200 (materials)

We have a whole lot of “Great Big Games” that we take to children’s events like Camp Anuenue. These games that we build are huge games that are fun for the whole family. They are usually made of wood and cost about $200 in materials. We seem to need about 2 or 3 new games a year to replace the worn out and broken ones.

Buy volunteers Food $300

We always make sure to feed the volunteers who come out work a full day in the sun with only a lunch break. Lunch is when we show them our love. I never want our volunteers to eat a simple bento meal and get back to work. We always try to cook something special. Something really good that expresses our gratitude for the hard skilled work they do. We usually have Coffee, snacks, fruit, A full big lunch.

Pay for the Awards for Volunteers $500

We keep track of every single hour volunteers work. We have registered to be an official presenter of “The Presidential Service Award,” an award given out by the White House for people who volunteer their hours. We once gave out awards to 67 amazing people at Camp Anuenue. Imagine getting an award from the president. The awards are sold at a small cost, but that still means a little bit of money is needed to make this happen.

Buy the supplies for a charity project $1000

When we build a playground for Sunshine School or Waialae Elementary, we need to purchase the materials for the project. Usually Home Depot gives us a decent discount, but they don’t give us the materials for free. We spend about $1000 for the materials on our average project.

Buy Toys for kids at camp Anuenue $750

Every Year we buy toys for the kids at Camp Anuenue (A Childhood Cancer Program). We set up a bunch of big games for them to play and then they win tokens by playing the games. They then take the tokens over to the prize table and cash them in for toys. Each kid gets about $25 worth of toys and the toys are specifically chosen so they have things to do with each other at the camp during their free time.

Feed the kids at Camp Anuenue $750

Each year we feed the kids at Camp Anuenue a really big meal. Usually big juicy hamburgers and Hotdogs and lots of watermelon. We print out colorful menus with pictures of what they want and have them cross out what they don’t want. It’s a lot of fun. The volunteers cook for free, which means all we have to pay for is the food itself which we get mostly from Costco.

Buy a permanent house for a Homeless person $3300 (Materials)

In the back of Waimanalo there is a homeless shelter that I truly respect. They build permanent housing for the homeless. For only $3300 worth of materials we can build one of these. Our volunteers assemble them for free. It takes about 8 semi skilled people to put one of these together in a day and for the next 20 years or more, someone has a place to live.
