Church Doors

I thought it would be a fun challenge to build some really nice doors. Churches have really nice doors so I built them for free just to see if I could.

Mahogany Church Etched Doors

Why: For the love of building beautiful doors. 

How: 

• Cut glass to fit.

• Etch the glass using the etching process (link).

• Buy 2 36x84 slabs and cut out the window holes.

• Cut out holes for hardware to lock door at bottom and top.

• Hang both doors as is.

• Cut out of ¾ mahogany (any nice wood) The shapes of the outside of the door.

• Attach the front side of the doors.

• Install the glass.

• Install the inside of the doors’ molding.

• Sand Sand Sand.

• Install the door knobs and hardware. (need to extend the hardware because the door is so thick)

• Remove hardware again.

• Stain the doors. (careful around the glass)

• Seal the doors.

• Reinstall the hardware.
