Evan’s Yakudoshi (厄年)

What: Evan’s completely inauthentic Yakudoshi party. It’s Evan’s Birthday. The party will be Japanese themed with all the authenticity of a Panda Express in Wyoming.

When: Saturday May 13th. 10am to 8pm (come and go as you please or just stop by and say hi)

Where: Evan’s back yard. - Text me if you need the address

Who: Anyone who has ever been to an AOK event or just likes cheesy parties. Authentic Japanese people will receive a free goody bag. :) Containing a very sincere apology .

Bring: Potluck, Japanese food is the theme but honestly just bring what ever you like. BBQ will be running.

Theme: A dorky white dude pretending he understands Japanese Culture. Decorations will be purchased with all thoughts of authenticity thrown out the window.

What the hell is a Yakudoshi

Many Japanese believe that the bad luck associated with some ages derives from puns that it is possible to make with their numerals. The numeral 33, for example, can be pronounced sanzan, which may mean either "troublesome" or "birth difficulty," the numeral 42 can be pronounced shi ni, meaning "to death," and the number 19 can be pronounced jū ku, meaning "intense suffering."

I will however not be taking any of this seriously and instead I will just use it as an excuse to throw a party.
